Now when I gave the demo a go, I was expecting this same 'tone' in the essence of the game, if that makes any sense. It fits the cyberpunk theme so well because it doesn't add terror, instead, it's a psychodelic fast-paced (enhanced edition) 'quick-thinking' shooter, thanks to (in large part) the music. SS1, however, has a very distinct feature. Not only it keeps the player on his/her toes to what might await him/her in the next corner, but builds suspense too. It had a different tone.Īs many people here knows, SS2 has a horror theme that puts together the mutations, cyborgs, androids, and all the clashing between SHODAN and The Many. However, this one was surprisingly different. ![]() Hours passed and it became, too, one of the best games I played. This time, i'd force myself to finish at least a portion before judging and giving up. Some months passed and I decided to play again. Perhaps because I was being born the same year the game came out. I wouldn't be able to play the first (?) immersive sim that bred the rest because I came late to the party. I disliked the interface, controls, and felt it was gonna be that for me. ![]() Played the hell out of the game and when got tired, decided to try the first. I started by playing the second entry and it became very clear to me where the roots of bioshock, prey, deus ex and many others came. I'll begin this rant by saying I met SS circa 2012 and, since then, it entered my list of best games I have ever played, both 1 & 2.
